Hopefully this place will get back to what it was in the past where the majority of the positive reviews are.
Once we got our order in, we were brought waters. 2 of 5 of our glasses were dirty and needed replaced.
The wait we were told was reasonable, an hour. Even after receiving menus it took a total of 2 hours from walking in to actually having a waitress see us. This was made worse by the fact the staff seemed to be actively avoiding us for a bit be walking past without any acknowledgement
Not to contradict the local guides, but from an out of towner, this place seems to be riding the coat tails of how good it used to be.
Very disappointed with this resteraunt. It was highly recommended by the hotel we were staying at while in town. My salad consisted of lettus, 1thin slice of tomato and dressing. I tried to order milk for my kids to drink with their meals and they didn't have any. The bread sticks we're under cooked. My steak was very rare (I ordered medium). My husband was supposed to get 6 scallops with his meal and he received 5. Our total bill was $75 and I can't remember the last time I paid so much for so little.
My food was absolutely delicious! I had the smothered tenderloin and it melted in my mouth. I would drive the 2.5 hours from my house just to have that again and to show my family how well we were treated by the waitress. She was very smart and knew her if the steaks where satisfactory to the customer just by looking at the customer. She was an awesome person. I hope to see her again soon. (We were only up that way visiting our father in the VA Hospital. He pasted last week but we will still make sure to come up that way to experience an awesome dinner one more time.)
I don't think management knows what they're doing. Our party of 5 was quoted for an hour wait at dinner, no problem. An hour and a half later, I checked in on our status as we still hadn't been seated and was told they couldn't even quote us a time frame, because they had *one* party of eight ahead of us. When we finally did get seated in the bar area, the water glasses they brought out were dirty (they had been washed, but had large visible food debris in large streaks on multiple glasses). Two of our five meals were badly overcooked. Management made no attempt to alleviate or even address the situation, let alone apologize. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years, I understand that mistakes sometimes happen. But when a mistake happens, you address it *immediately* and make *some* attempt to offset the bad experience. I wasn't expecting them to comp a $160 meal, but when I am paying $160 for a meal I *do* expect management to at least make an effort at guest satisfaction, they didn't.
The food was okay, my meal was fine but my father's T-bone was cooked well done when he ordered medium. The fact they are a stake place that accidentally made a well done steak is a bit disappointing.
New management is meeting the high standards of long time former owners, but still adding their own excellent twists. Outstanding food and lots of it! Friendly staff makes you feel as if it's your private club.
